Synergy Consultants (www.synergyindia.com and www.synergyindia.in ) have been in top level confidential Retained Executive Search for over 17 years. We are currently looking to select and recruit the following:
Managing Director, India (Mumbai)
for the World Gold Council (www.gold.org )
reports to the Global Chief Executive Officer.
The MD is reported to by a Associate Director, Area Managers, Brand Manager, Consultants, Associates, etc.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, dynamic, results oriented professional, around 40-45, preferably with business development (marketing, sales, advertising) experience in high value luxury, lifestyle & fashion products like diamonds, jewellery, watches, etc. Experience of managing large retail networks of FMCG or high value products would also be suitable. The candidate should have at least 5-10 years exposure at the CEO, VP, GM, levels etc.
THE CONTEXT
India is one the World Gold Council’s key consumer markets accounting for over 20% of the world jewellery demand. The World Gold Council in India has recently been restructured, with a more aggressive commercially driven business plan. The Head Office in India is in Mumbai with a further office in Chennai.
KEY ROLES OF THE MANAGING DIRECTOR
o To develop and implement the World Gold Council Jewellery Marketing Strategy with Strategic Alliance Partners (SAP’s) across India.
o Develop and maintain working relationships with SAP’s from the Jewellery industry
o Develop and implement Retail Investment strategy with key partners
o Develop and maintain deregulation initiatives with key government officials
o Provide visible leadership and positive PR for the World Gold Council in the Region
o Manage, develop and motivate the India team
Whilst the focus of the Managing Director, India has previously almost exclusively been jewellery promotion, the role is now more general with the new incumbent being highly motivated to promote retail investment in addition to institutional investment, the industrial use of gold and relations with the Reserve Bank of India/Treasury in general.
